Planning for 2027 requires choosing how you want to finish the next cycle and which decisions you need to prepare to get there. Reducing open initiatives and working with one to three priorities can help turn that direction into a sustainable route.
In D365-IRL Day 393, Carlos closed the Tech Week Mexico week and the program's final operating session of 2026. After a week of conversations about companies, investment and innovation, the reflection returned to clarity, focus and execution.
Opportunities also consume capacity
Hearing many ideas broadens perspective. Pursuing all of them requires time and resources a project may not have. The session proposed reviewing tasks that had lost their relevance, reducing open projects and clarifying goals before accelerating.
For a founder, the application is concrete: distinguish initiatives that contribute to the intended result from those occupying space through habit, pressure or excitement. Stopping an initiative needs a decision as clear as starting one.
Define the destination and work backward
The question raised was how you want to finish 2027. From that point, a route can be traced back to the present.
As an editorial exercise based on this idea, describe an observable result, identify what would need to exist beforehand and fit the first step within your current capacity. If the route requires more projects than you can sustain, revisit your priorities.
The session recommended choosing one to three priorities. That limit supports a conversation about tradeoffs: what will receive attention, what will wait and what will stop. It does not guarantee a result; it makes the allocation of available effort more visible.
Structure helps you respond to the unexpected
Discipline was presented as a foundation for responding when circumstances change. With understandable commitments and priorities, a team can review what to adjust when an opportunity or disruption appears.
That work also requires agreements between people. When different functions pursue incompatible priorities, individual planning reaches a limit. If your next step is to work on that coordination, explore PowerDay to connect your team and focus priorities. The experience and continuity options are agreed according to the organization's challenge.
November as preparation for the next cycle
The Day 393 description announced preparation beginning November 3 and readiness and introductory sessions from November 9 to 13 for registered participants. These are dates communicated in that session; participants should confirm their own schedules and current terms with the program.
The stated purpose was to map the current situation, challenges, projects, priorities and larger goals. Planning begins with that reality alongside the aspiration for the following year.

How do you keep the plan from becoming another task list? Make explicit what will be done, postponed and stopped, with a first step that fits available capacity.
Continue with choosing one priority for year-end.
